Texts by and about Saint Michael

Correspondence of Saint Michael Garicoïts

At the end of this Jubilee Year, we would like the spiritual heritage of Saint Michael Garicoïts to be accessible to all: first and foremost to us, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Betharram, because we always feel the need to return to the sources of our spirituality; then to young people in formation, so that they can directly approach the writings of Saint Michael and, in a certain sense, "be formed" directly by him; to the Betharramite laity, so that Saint Michael can become a source of inspiration and counsel in facing the daily commitments and choices that life entails; and to those who, out of curiosity, are approaching this spiritual heritage for the first time: may they be helped, by Saint Michael's depth of thought and intense relationship with God, to rediscover the beauty and joy of believing in the Lord Jesus and his Church.

Alongside the momentum supporting the national church, religious life is flourishing in Côte d'Ivoire. This is evident: eight indigenous priests and about twenty young Africans in training with us.

For all these reasons, the three volumes of the “Correspondence” will be published progressively on the website following the order of the periods indicated by P. Duvignau.

Special thanks go to the translators who enabled us to undertake this undertaking and make this spiritual heritage available to a wider audience: for the Spanish translation, thanks go to the late Fr. Miguel Martinez SCJ and Fr. Angelo Recalcati SCJ; for the Italian translation, thanks go to Mr. Mario Grugnola; and for the English translation, thanks go to Fr. Dominic Innamorati SCJ.

Happy reading to everyone!
