The long-awaited village churches of Borbil (St. Anthony's Church) and Baithalangso (St. Michael Garicoits' Church) were solemnly inaugurated on November 9, 2025, marking a historic and joyful moment for the Betharramite Mission Centre in Simaluguri, Assam, India.
The new church in Baithalangso is dedicated to St. Michael Garicoits, making it the first church in India dedicated to our Founder.
The celebration was attended by numerous parishioners, clergy, benefactors, and residents of the surrounding villages, all united in thanksgiving and joy.
The inauguration and blessing were presided over by His Excellency the Most Reverend John Moolachira, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Guwahati. In his homily, the Bishop expressed heartfelt appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the Betharram Fathers who serve in his diocese, particularly those working at the Simaluguri Mission Center.
At the end of the liturgical celebration, a brief thanksgiving program was held. Parish leaders took the opportunity to honor all the benefactors, collaborators, and workers who contributed to the construction of the churches. The speakers expressed deep gratitude to all those who supported the project with prayer, financial assistance, and volunteer service.
The event concluded with a communal meal offered to all participants, further strengthening the spirit of brotherhood and unity among the people.
