The Vicariate of England has lost a great friend in Jane Farrell, who passed away on 6 December at the age of 69 after a long illness.
Jane was a founding member of the “Companions”, a group of lay associates from Olton. He had represented them at the Albavilla meeting in 2003, and had been part of the group of lay delegates invited to the 2005 General Chapter.
Born in Pontyprid, a mining town in South Wales, she spoke fluent Welsh and was very proud of her Celtic heritage. She served the Olton community in various capacities, as parish secretary, teacher, catechist, counselor, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, lector, but above all as a friend and confidant.
She and her husband, Peter, have always been active members of our parish, as have their daughters, Louise and Katie. They were all at her side when the Lord called her to Himself on the feast of St. Nicholas.
Jane had answered an interview in the NEF, in October 2009.
