On the night of December 29th, 600 parishioners from Huay Tong and from others places, including more than 20 priests, came to the village for the celebration of Christmas and the 50 years of our missionary presence there. All the Christians were happy to meet each other and they enjoyed their dinner. Then a procession from the top of the village to the St Paul church took place. The mass, presided by bishop Joseph Sangwal, was celebrated in the open air because the church was too small. All people sang with one voice, with unity and with the same faith. After the mass they conducted a nice cultural program, with traditional songs, until 2 am. After a short sleep followed by breakfast, Fr. Jean Caset said: “I am happy with the good cooperation and the steadfast faith of the Christians  over these last 50 years: we must still go on announcing the unknown God.” At 10 am the Eucharist started with the confirmation of 150 people. During his homily the bishop gave thanks to the Betharram missionaries who brought the catholic faith in the area and he encouraged people to keep the traditions received. After the mass Fr. Au soir du 29 décembre, 600 paroissiens de Huay Tong et des environs, ainsi qu’une vingtaine de prêtres, ont rejoint le village pour célébrer Noël et cinquante ans de présence de nos missionnaires. Après de joyeuses retrouvailles et un diner apprécié, ils processionnèrent du haut du village à l’église Saint-Paul. Faute de place, la Messe fut célébrée à l’extérieur sous la présidence de Mgr Joseph Sangwal. Toute l’assemblée chanta d’un seul chœur et d’une seule foi. Après l’Eucharistie eut lieu la soirée festive, avec des chants traditionnels, jusqu’à deux heures du matin. Le lendemain, après le déjeuner, le P. Jean Caset, curé de la paroisse, prit la parole : « Je suis heureux de la bonne collaboration avec les chrétiens et de leur fidélité à la foi depuis 50 ans, mais nous devons continuer à évangéliser, et à annoncer le Dieu inconnu. » À 10h commença la grand messe au cours de laquelle 150 personnes reçurent la confirmation. Dans son homélie, l’évêque rendit hommage aux Bétharramites qui ont implanté le catholicisme dans le pays, et exhorta à garder les traditions spirituelles et culturelles. Les remerciements du P. Caset  et les salutations du P. Chayot conclurent ces magnifiques moments.

La sera del 29 dicembre 600 parrocchiani da HuayTong e dai dintorni, e una ventina di sacerdoti, hanno raggiunto al paese per la celebrazione del Natale e dei cinquanta anni di presenza dei nostri missionari. Dopo una gioiosa riunione un’ottima cena sono andati in processione dalla parte superiore del paese alla Chiesa di San Paolo. Per mancanza di spazio, la Messa è stata celebrata all’aperto, sotto la presidenza di Monsignor Giuseppe Sangwal. Tutti i presenti hanno cantato a una sola voce e con una sola fede. Allì l'Eucaristia ha fatto seguito la serata di festa, con canti tradizionali, fino alle due del mattino. Il giorno successivo, dopo pranzo, P. Jean Caset, parroco, ha dichiarato: "Mi rallegro per la buona cooperazione dei i cristiani e per il loro attaccamento  alla fede da 50 anni, ma dobbiamo continuare ad evangelizzare e ad annunciare il Dio ignoto. "Alle 10 ha avuto inizio la Messa solenne in cui 150 persone hanno ricevuto il sacramento della Confermazione. Nella sua omelia, il vescovo ha reso omaggio ai Betharramiti che hanno impiantato il cattolicesimo nella zona e ha esortato a mantenere le tradizioni spirituali e culturali. I ringraziamenti di P. Caset e i saluti di P. Chayot hanno concluso queste stupende giornate.
