That Betharramite religious are present in the Bethlehem and Nazareth at all is due to Providential intervention, centred on the persistence of Sister Mary of Jesus Crucified (now Blessed Miriam Bouardy). She was a Palestinian Christian Arab and a Carmelite Sister, whose story is a series of marvels too long to tell here. These two houses, were the centres of formation for all Betharramite religious from the 1880’s, when they were founded by Fathers Etchecopar and Estrate, until 1947. Today there are 9 Religious resident, 4 in Nazareth and 5 in Bethlehem, together with some young Palestinians applying to join the Congregation.

This is what 350 Betharramite Religious and some hundred Betharramite lay people are trying to live concretely, faithful to the appeal of Christ to serve the Church and World of today.
